Gas Mixtures
Gas mixtures are a wide and diverse group of products developed for use in specific industries for customized applications. Food gas mixtures are used to delay the deterioration of packaged food by substituting the air in the package with a protective gas mixture. Different gas mixtures are used to improve the characteristic of many beverages from beer and wine to soft drinks.
Gas mixtures are either created on site by mixing two or more pure gases, or they can be supplied as premixed products in various containers and cylinders. When you need more than a simple pure gas, we can provide a wide variety of gas mixtures suited for your application.
Some application-specific gas mixtures include:
Beer Gases
Beer gas mixtures combine beverage grade nitrogen and carbon dioxide to produce the desired results depending on the type of beer. A blend of 60% nitrogen and 40% carbon dioxide is used for many lagers. A blend of 75% nitrogen and 25% CO2 is used for stouts and nitro pours. CryoCarb™ can mix up special blends as needed to achieve the correct presentation and flavor.
Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) Gas Blends
A blend of food grade (NF) nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen can be used to replace air in packages to extend the shelf life of packaged foods. CryoCarb™ can mix up special blends suitable to MAP applications for meats, dairy, bakery, snack foods, fruits and vegetables.
Medical Air
A mixture of up to 23.5% USP oxygen combined with USP nitrogen used for respiratory therapy is available for medical customers.

Supply Modes
CryoCarb™ supplies gas products in compressed gas cylinders of varying sizes that can operate at very high pressures and in lower pressure cryogenic microbulk and bulk liquid storage tanks.
Since gases are used in a wide range of applications, the appropriate storage mode varies. Pressure, volume and flow rate are all key factors in determining the most appropriate and cost effective gas supply mode.
Compressed gas cylinders have a limited volume of gas present but are easy to move to where they are required.
Many gases, liquefied at low temperature can be supplied either in small cryogenic vessels or in large tanks capable of holding ten’s of thousands of gallons of liquid gas. For customers requiring even larger quantities of gases, we offer customized on-site solutions.
